Accessibility statement
This statement applies to the website for Marie Tidball, Member of Parliament for Penistone and Stocksbridge. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, and we are committed to making it accessible.
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. In practice this means that:
- you can navigate the whole site using a keyboard, with a clear visible highlight showing where you are;
- "skip to content" and "skip to navigation" links appear when you start tabbing through a page;
- animations and motion effects are reduced automatically if you have turned on "reduce motion" in your device or browser settings;
- pages use a single, logical heading structure so screen readers can move through them easily;
- images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers;
- text and background colours are chosen to keep a readable level of contrast.
Known limitations
We are working to improve the site, but some areas are not yet fully accessible:
- Maps. Interactive maps are provided by a third-party mapping tool. Where a map appears, we also list the same locations as text so the information does not depend on using the map.
- Newsletter sign-up. The newsletter form is embedded from Substack, a third-party service whose accessibility we do not control.
- Documents. Some older linked documents (for example PDFs) may not be fully accessible.
