Petition: Launch a Hopper Bus for High Green
To: South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority
We, the undersigned residents of High Green, call on the Mayor of South Yorkshire to commission a hopper bus service for High Green, circulating around our estates and connecting them to Chapeltown, Northern General Hospital, Barnsley and Meadowhall.
Those of us who attended the Pride in High Green meeting raised serious concerns about unreliable bus services. The No. 1 service stops running well before 8pm and there is no Sunday service at all, leaving shift and care workers with no way to get to work. Routes run up and down Wortley Road but do not reach the estates around them, cutting off residents without a car from their own community — and getting to Northern General Hospital can mean three buses and over two hours each way for a short appointment.
Marie Tidball MP is already pressing South Yorkshire's transport authorities on wider connectivity for High Green, including reinstating the X78 flyer service. This petition focuses on the next step: a hopper bus that circulates around High Green itself.
High Green's residents deserve transport that connects them to the hospitals, jobs and services they rely on.
Signed,
Marie Tidball MP and hundreds of High Green constituents
