Save Penistone Paramount

Penistone Paramount in the old Penistone Town Hall has been part of our town’s heritage for over 110 years. Generations have come here. Yet now, Barnsley Council have announced they are cancelling funds that would have been spent on a new screen, café and bar, as well as accessibility upgrades.

This decision cannot be justified. Other projects in other principal town areas, as part of the Principal Towns fund programme, have reached much later stages of investment. In Penistone, while we've had funding on initial works at the Town Hall, but work on the Paramount was the next stage we were all looking forward to - the jewel in the crown of our great town. This flies in the face of what our government is doing nationally to make our high streets thrive and bring our communities together.

Penistone Paramount is a treasured community asset, and we the undersigned call on Barnsley Council to reverse their decision to shelve this project.
